Echuca Historical Society treasurer Deidre Coombs was thinking about doing something fun that kids would enjoy, bringing families into the society’s museum.
“Just prior to COVID, we had a couple of children’s fun days in the holiday periods, and they were always such a big event and success,” Deidre said.
“And I was thinking about something we could put on and I thought ‘what about teddy bears’?”
The display will include teddy bears from the museum and the community, and information panels on teddy bears.
Only focusing on teddy bears, the Echuca Historical Society is encouraging the community to put their teddy bears into the display.
As part of the display on Wednesday, September 20, the Echuca Historical Society is holding a ‘Kids Fun Day’ with free entry to the museum, including children’s entertainment and activities.
The day will consist of storytelling, live music and a sing-along, old-time games and a barbecue lunch.
As part of the ‘Kids Fun Day’ Campaspe Shire Council is sponsoring a bus for families to come up from Rochester.
“It was a way to make it a fun day, without costing people anything and the kids can enjoy themselves,” Deidre said.
“Because when we have had family days before, people come in and go, ‘Oh, we didn’t know you were here’, and they might have lived here all their lives.”
If you would like your teddy bear to be part of ‘Ready, Teddy, Go!’ from Monday, September 4, Echuca Historical Society Museum will welcome teddy bears.
Ready, Teddy, Go! is on display at the Echuca Historical Society Museum, 1-3 Dickson St, Echuca from Friday, September 15 to Sunday, October 2.
