Players from Cobram, Finley and Yarrawonga descended on the Apex Reserve for a season-ending Gala Day, with plenty of smiles across the teams.
CJSA president Mario Pardo said the association was thrilled to be able to complete all 13 rounds of competition this year.
“We’ve had a terrific season of soccer, and it has just been wonderful to see the kids back out enjoying their soccer, practising their skills and making new friends after the stresses of the past few years,” Pardo said.
The Gala Day featured plenty of action throughout, with a series of tournament-style matches being played.
Teams of all ages were involved, with the under-7 boys, under-8 girls, under-9 boys and under-12 boys and girls all showcasing their skills.
Pardo labelled the season an “absolute success”.
“We congratulate all the players and teams for their participation and sportsmanship during the day, and thank all coaches, team managers and volunteers for their efforts throughout the entire season,” he said.
“We also congratulate Gala Day champions: U12 girls Norwich City, U12 boys Madrid, U9 boys Barcelona and U8 girls Liverpool, who held on to win in closely contested finals.
“There was an absolute buzz around the grounds on Gala Day and the committee was so pleased to see players and their families enjoying the great conditions and the competition; the smiles on players’ faces as they collected their medals at the end of the day really said it all.”
