A rampaging Echuca side put together a ruthless second half against Seymour at the weekend to end the Lions’ run of three consecutive wins in the Goulburn Valley League A-grade netball competition.

A tight contest was expected at Victoria Park, with both sides entering the clash on eight wins so far this season and in good form.
It was the home side that got off to the better of starts, leaping out to a five-goal lead at the first break, with coach Belinda Lees looking ominous inside the semi-circle.
Defender Sarah Szczykulski was among the best for the Lions.
But Seymour hit back in the second term, and with its own coach this time, as Ellie Fuhrmeister put through seven goals, helping the Lions to close the margin back to just three goals and trail 19-22 at half-time.
It was all Echuca after the long break, however, as the reigning premier flexed its muscle to break the game wide open in the third quarter.
Lees and Holly Chadwick were formidable in goal and, despite the best efforts of the Lions’ defence in Sarah Szczykulski, Ruby Martin and Bridie Cantwell, stretched the margin to eight at the final change.

Seymour had no response in the final term as the Murray Bombers stormed home, with the Lions eventually going down 32-50.
The loss leaves Seymour in fifth place on the A-grade ladder and sets up a mouth-watering clash against Tatura this weekend.
The Bulldogs sit fourth, one spot above the Lions, each with eight wins, although Tatura’s draw against Echuca means it is two points ahead.
