“It’s been good training, good numbers. I’m pleased with what I’ve seen so far,” he told The Free Press last Wednesday, the final night of training before the Christmas break.
“There’s a bit of work to do with intensity and system. But it’s been just 10 training sessions.”
There’s a buzz on and off John Foord Oval. Long time volunteer Jeff Smith said he hasn’t seen such a buzz at training for 20 years. “There’s a real buzz down here and down the street. I was in IGA the other day and a lot of people were talking about the coach, players and everyone else associated with the club,” he said.
Recruitment is still happening at Rooland. “We are still going after a few, whether they be locals returning or new players to the club,” the Sydney champion in charge at JFO said.
The clubrooms are taking shape after the devastating November 2022 floods. “We’ll be up and running for season 2025,” club board member Graham Hosier said.
“There’s a lot of volunteering work going on by our fantastic volunteers and sponsors. We really appreciate everyone’s help.”
Football pre season resumes on Saturday, January 18 at John Foord Oval.
