Corowa 33 defeated by Yarrawonga 35
A grade had a disappointing loss against a strong and mature Yarrawonga side.
Own errors got in the way of sealing a win against the Pigeons. Lots of great defensive pressure was applied and the attackers did their best in trying conditions.
It was good to welcome Lou Madden back into the side this week after an injury that has kept her on the sidelines.
BOC & award went to Leah Keating who managed to single-handedly ensure our loss was only 2 goals not 7 with her intercepts in the last quarter!
B Grade
Corowa 30 defeated by Yarrawonga 52
B grade had a tough, physical game in the coldest of conditions. There were passages of brilliant netball where the girls maintained possession and played smart ball.
Audrey Hogan, a young gun from the U17s team filled in for 4 quarters in GK, providing plenty of turnovers with her long reach.
Unfortunately, the girls weren’t able to covert a lot of turnovers with Yarrawonga better adapting to the wet and windy conditions.
Awards: Club 1: Jade Lane who consistently had clean tips to the ball in the pockets creating plenty of turnover opportunities. Club 2: Tori Sampson’s calm composure was a huge asset in attack allowing the girls to balance up, finish their prelims and open up the play. Canteen: Macey Drayton worked hard to play the front and also had plenty of touches. MVP: Audrey Hogan
C Grade
Corowa 38 defeated by Yarrawonga 50
C grade had ended up with a loss to Yarrawonga where the Roos just failed to do the basics consistently throughout the game and where lack of height in the ring was evident.
The shooters ensured the margin didn’t blow out with Club 1 going to consistent Stephanie Sutcliffe and Thrive Award to Maddi Simmons.
Charlotte Bott received the canteen award for her consistent defence effort and drive out of defence.
Under 17s
Corowa 41 defeated Yarrawonga 20
The 17s went into the game knowing they could get a win against Yarrawonga. They took some time to get their groove on but settled into the game well.
The girls worked well in both attack and defence, transitioning into defence mode when required, with hands over balls which resulted in turnovers.
Very proud of the girls and they got the win.
Awards: Club 1: Keeley Symonds, Corowa Whiskey & Chocolate: Nellie Linden, Canteen: Alex Gniel.
Under 15s
Corowa 29 defeated by Yarrawonga 38
The 15s worked hard and found their best netball when they were connected and enjoying the game and each other this week.
Winning the last quarter alone by 4 goals, keeping their opponents to their lowest quarter score of 7.
The Roos tied the second quarter 10 a piece, but the damage was done in the first and third quarters and the Roos lost the game by 9.
The girls are minimising the deficit of the first time we played teams incredibly and polishing up their game play each and every week.
Awards this week went to: Club 1: Lilyana Murray-Wright who was a bundle of energy and strength in defence, combining with Maiya Lea wonderfully. Sportspower: Charlotte Seal who was confident, an unstoppable force in the midcourt and battling for the team from the first to last whistle. Canteen: Maddison Ryan whose intensity lifted the team around her, fighting for possession and chasing down loose balls. MVP also went to Lilyana Murray-Wright.
