The pair were surprised with Blighty Netball Club life memberships with a courtside presentation in the final round of the Picola League home and away season.
The club said Jodi and Kelly have played significant roles within the club and guided it through “some of the most challenging times, particularly during and post-COVID”.
We’ll have more on the presentations in Friday’s PT Sport.
Meanwhile, here is the weekend wrap up from Blighty.
A-grade: Blighty 24 def by Waaia 58.
Congratulations on finishing the year the way we started girls!
Thank you to the juniors who stepped up for the year to help our senior sides. The future of the club is bright with the abilities of these young girls.
The combined A-grade and B-grade squad didn’t give up for the last game.
They took to the court in both games with competitive drive and determination to show that even though the scores are always a little way apart, the actual game is still competitive and fierce.
B-grade: Blighty 22 def by Waaia 67.
C-grade: Blighty 11 def by Waaia 88.
The team took to the court on Saturday with one goal in mind - to have fun!
We saw massive position changes with shooters in defence and defenders shooting.
It was so pleasing to watch the team close out the season with such enjoyment and class.
Awards: Abbey Downie, Emma Brain, Tayla Kennedy.
C-reserve: Blighty 12 def by Waaia 61.
What a way to finish the season! The score didn’t reflect our side’s growth over the past few months.
We are very proud of our girls’ resilience, which they have shown each week by being able to laugh and hold their heads high.
A huge thank you to Chris Hall for providing all players with an award this week!
Under-17s: Blighty 26 def by Waaia 41.
With two out injured, once again, we asked under-15s to step up and help.
The Redeyes found it hard against the Bombers with a slow start, but things got much better after half-time, as the girls all tried hard to develop some cohesion in the group.
Ashlea Charlton was strong in the attacking end, taking some lovely shots.
Chelsea Singleton stepped up again, took on centre, and did a wonderful job. Teammate Chelsea Weir was again solid in defence.
Thank you to Issy Pearn, who is such a dedicated netballer who was driven on the court and fulfilled strongly.
Thanks also to our under-15 girls, who have helped us out so much this season.
It’s been a hard but very rewarding season. We have all learned so much and will continue to build! We’re so proud of all the girls.
Awards: Rhys Tremble Concreting & Engineering Incentive Award - Ashlea Charlton; Blighty Canteen Award - Chelsea Singleton; Finley IGA - Isabel Pearn.
Under-15s: Blighty 19 def Waaia 13.
The under-15s had a great end to the season against Waaia, winning by a few goals after being close all game.
We tried different combinations which worked really well to allow equal court time and a bit of a change.
We have had a really great season as a team, and I’m excited to see where the girls’ netball goes in the next few years.
Awards: Milly Hanmer, Lucy Pisasale.
Under-13s: Blighty 21 def Waaia 16.
We had a comfortable win to finish the home and away season and cement a position in the top eight.
Trialling different combinations in defence, Amelia Armytage caused multiple deflections while Ellie Miller stood tall, making her opponent work hard for every pass.
Lena Seely again showed her strength in WD, with Savannah Bain attacking with poise and determination.
Accurate shooting by Ella Charlton saw Blighty take a convincing win.
Awards: Savannah Bain, Ellie Miller, Lena Seely.
Under-11s: Not scored.
The girls really brought it all for their last game. They played the best game they have played all season.
Remy Tremble shone in attack, getting three goals in the second quarter.
Carla Brown was amazing in defence keeping her player out of the game.
We are very proud of how far the girls have come this season. They have all improved immensely.
Awards: Remy Tremble, Carla Brown.
