Coming in as underdogs against the minor premier, a complete performance got the Lakers over the line with a number of handy contributions getting them above 100 with the bat, before the bowlers stood up in the clutch to secure the victory.
The only Nagambie team to take the field in the junior competition this season, this result shows the exciting depth at the club as it continues to develop into a Cricket Shepparton force after joining the competition in 2018.
Winning the toss and batting first, the Lakers knew their best chance of winning was putting scoreboard pressure on the fancied Magpies.
Archy Harrison answered the call for Nagambie, coming in at the top of the order and smashing a quick-fire 25 to get his team off to a pivotal fast start.
He received great support from captain Campbell Baker (15 not out), Flynn Bush (14 not out) and Ryan Ezard (11 not out), as the Lakers posted a very competitive 5-106 from their 25 overs.
Set up for an enthralling chase, Euroa started positively with Ollie Swain (14 not out) and Ethan Saxon (14 not out) building a solid platform at the top of the order.
But the Lakers bowlers didn’t panic, with Ezard (1-10), Harrison (1-10), Baker (1-5) and Hudson Black (1-5) providing the consistent breakthroughs needed to put the Magpies under pressure.
Taking the game all the way to the final over, Nagambie sharpened up in the field, with some excellent bowling putting the squeeze on Euroa and lifting the Lakers to a stunning four-run triumph.
