After a close start, the Kangaroos jumped into action to claim the Kyabram District League’s 13-and-under premiership, 35 to 15.
Kade Starling was awarded best-on for his heroics in the position of centre.
Girgarre coach Sharee Starling had been there before, coaching the under-15 Girgarre side to a premiership in 2018.
This time was different as she had her children in the team, Kade and Tayla.
“We’ve had great support here. That’s Girgarre,’’ Starling said.
‘’They follow their teams and they’re very loyal and family-based.
“It’s rewarding (coaching my children), but challenging.
“They forget I’m coach sometimes and not just mum.
‘’The same as siblings as well; they have to remember they are teammates.
“He (Kade Starling) had a quiet game for his standards.
“Yes, (there’ll be celebrations); we’re all off to the team manager’s house now for a pool party and then back to the rooms tonight.”
