On the back of two undefeated seasons, the Magpies will have a chance to earn their third consecutive B-grade premiership when they face off against Tongala on Saturday.
A grand final win would not only cap off a fantastic season for Moama that saw them claim their second minor premiership in a row, but it would also extend a spectacular winning steak three seasons in the making.
Moama has won an incredible 42 games in a row dating back to 2019, with their last defeat coming 1196 days ago.
But the next win is the one that matters most now, and the Magpies will face a tough opponent in the Blues on Saturday.
“A win would be awesome, I think it will mean a lot for us to be premiers as well as minor premiers,” B-grade player and coach Carri Carter said.
“There has been a lot of commitment from all the girls, so I feel like it would be hard work paid off.
“It is going to be a close game, Tonny match up quite well against us. If you put our names on paper beside who we are playing, it is really an even match. We are both really looking forward to a good game.”
Carter said she was feeling some pressure ahead of the big game, but the coach said she thinks her side’s experience will hold them in good stead.
“I feel a bit of pressure not being the underdog, I feel like Tongala has nothing to lose,” she said.
“I think our experience will pay off. We have a lot of players that have played finals before, and I think keeping that consistent calm will help us on Saturday.
“We need to keep calm and composed and follow our game plan, and I think we will be okay.”
The Magpies will have plenty of support when tip off rolls around on Saturday, with the game being played on Moama’s home court.
“I can’t wait to see the crowd of black and white, and hopefully we will be able to celebrate a win for them as well,” Carter said.
“It is not just about the people on the court, it is about all the volunteers behind-the-scenes that do so much for everyone to be able to play.”
The game will be a match-up befitting of any grand final, with the Magpies and Blues finishing first and second on the ladder this season.
The two sides have plenty of experience against one another on the court having already faced off three times this season — twice in the regular season and once in the finals — with Moama triumphing each time so far.
Their most recent meeting was the closest, with Moama earning a 49-41 win in its semi-final.
