The win follows victories over Congupna and Finley in the previous two rounds, with the Magpies now fifth on the ladder, level on wins with sixth-placed Rumbalara, who they will play next week.
After a slow start to the season which didn’t include consecutive wins until rounds seven and eight, coach Jodie Lake is finally starting to see some consistency in her side’s performances.
“I’m pleased we could get another win, it’s good for the momentum to keep that winning feeling up,” she said.
“Our defence was the stand-out, they created so much pressure and turnovers and forced the errors.”
Lake’s praise for the Pies’ defensive third is warranted, as her defenders have given up just 39 goals in the past two weeks, the least in the competition, and were recognised in the awards after the match against the Tigers.
“Best on went to Charli Boschetti in wing defence who reads the play beautifully and just had hands to everything,” Lake said.
“The other awards went to the remaining defenders Alex Daly and Abby Larkin.”
The next two weeks will be important in terms of Moama’s finals aspirations, as next week they play Rumbalara, who sit one spot below them in sixth, before defending the Three Jacks Trophy against Echuca United on the King’s Birthday long weekend.
The match-up against the Eagles will prove fascinating, as it was the Magpies who prevailed comfortably in their round two match-up, however United has been undefeated in its six matches since.
