Smiling from ear to ear, Tatura’s Thomas Corso could not believe the afternoon he’d just had ― winning the Central Victorian League One Men’s Super Cup ― and picking up the best-on-ground award in the process.
“It’s great, this is my first grand final after playing for 18 years,” Corso said.
“I never thought I’d get to achieve this moment, that was the craziest game I’ve ever been a part of by far.
“We give out a best-on-ground every week, I haven’t won it all year, but I’ve won this one, so I’m super stoked.”
Corso said it was a team effort on the day, with it “pure luck” that he had won the best-on-ground award.
“I just tried my best like I do every game, I tried to tackle hard and I tried to win the ball as much as I could,” he said.
“At Tatura we’re very big on family, we haven’t won a grand final in 11 years.
“We knew there was only one goal at the start of this year and with such a young team we were so excited to do something special to give back to the club.
“I think we’re all really excited about that, we’re all really proud of what we’ve achieved.”
Capping an incredible day for the club, Corso had one message for the Tatura faithful.
“Go the Ibises, we’re coming back in 2023 baby.”
