Seymour’s brilliant campaign in the Country Basketball League North East Men competition has continued, with the Blasters registering yet another dominant win in round eight.

Hosting Echuca Pirates at Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre on Saturday evening, the Blasters were comfortably in control from start to finish, extending the lead at every break to record a mammoth 104-59 win at the final buzzer.
The visitors were on the back foot early in the contest, as Seymour sank shot after shot to double the Pirates’ score in the first term, racing out to a 26-13 lead at quarter-time.
It came off the back of some brilliant Patrick Green shooting, with the Blasters’ number 20 with 10 of his side’s 26 points to his name.

The second term saw Echuca come out in more competitive fashion, although Seymour was still able to widen the gap between the two sides to 17 points by the half, as the likes of Jesse Brock and Callum Stojanovic worked themselves into the contest.
While the first half saw the Blasters build a sizeable margin, the second half saw them blow it right out, as Echuca struggled to match the intensity of the home side.
Green’s fine shooting form continued as he found the basket with ease, while Harry Stones and Jack Murphy contributed solid points as the game wore on.

By three-quarter time it was a veritable smashing, as Seymour won the term 26-12 to see the advantage pushed out to 31 points, still with an entire quarter to play.
The Blasters saved the best for last, too, as they poured in 33 points in the final term to finish strongly with their highest scoring quarter. The margin was a whopping 45 points by the time the two sides shook hands.
Green finished as the top-scorer on the night with 29 points, while Stones (16), Murphy (15), Brock (12), William Stewart (12) and Stojanovic (10) all made it in to double digits.

Combined with the 37-point win over Mansfield last week, Seymour now boasts a percentage of 145.85, a touch over 22 per cent higher than the second-best percentage held by Wallan.
That percentage ensures the Blasters remain the best-placed side that has played eight games with a 7-1 record, although they do slip down to second for the time being as Wallan has played one extra fixture and are 8-1 for the season, albeit with a lesser percentage.
Just one round remains in the regular season, with the Blasters to first host Wodonga on Saturday, before hitting the road to take on Shepparton away on Sunday afternoon to round out the home-and-away season.
Seymour is well positioned to clinch the minor premiership thanks to its bloated percentage, with two wins this weekend all but securing top position going into finals.
