The Badass team competed fiercely, but the Amigos secured a comfortable 8-3 victory, placing them at the top of the league standings.
Peter Myles worked hard for his side, smashing in seven tons and a 115, Mark Kreyts was next best with five tons, a 125 and a 140, Anthony Wallis scored two tons, a 121, a 125 and a 140 and Monty Barman snagged a high score of 120.
The Amigos’ Torin Helmore slotted five pegs, four tons, a 120, 134 and two 140s, Mark Robinson nailed seven tons, a 105, a 125 and a 140, Shantelle Collings slipped in three tons and a 123 to go with a round-high peg of 90 and Darren Withoos sneaked in a single ton.
The Broadford Golf Club hosted the next match of the round, with the Golf Club Aces facing off against the Pirates in a competitive encounter.
The Aces started strongly, winning the first three games of the night, leaving the Pirates struggling to regain their footing.
The visitors notched their first win of the night in the opening singles match and the floodgates finally opened, with the Pirates winning the next six games to claim a shaky 7-4 victory.
Dave Ring got among the high scores for the Aces, finishing the night with five tons, a 125 and a 140, Mark Jones was quiet with the two tons and a 120 but made up for it with a high peg of 84 and Craig Stephens slipped in a ton and a 117.
The Pirates’ young gun, Zane Kilroy, was on a mission after being left out of the first game of the night, he finished with two 180s, four tons and two 140s, Steve Kilroy banged in three tons and a 125 and Seth Kilroy sneaked in a ton and a 121.
The Kilmore Cobras faced the Kings in the third and final A-grade game of the night at the Royal Oak Hotel in Kilmore.
The Cobras continue to challenge teams in their first Season in A-grade, but the Kings’ experience and polish with hitting the doubles was the most significant difference between the two, with the Kings taking home the points with a 10-1 win.
Rohan Clancy was the Cobras’ top performer, he finished the night with four tons and two 140s, Josh Read banged in a 140 and Crystal Bird sneaked in a ton.
The Kings’ Rob Welsh closed his account with the maximum six pegs to his name, he also hammered in six tons and a 119, captain Terran Crispin slotted a high peg of 81 to go with six tons, a 120 and 121, Adam Lynch speared in six tons and a 105 and Anthony Bohlmann snagged two tons and a 123.
The Royal Rascals were up next, competing against the Jacarandas at the Royal Hotel in Seymour.
The Jacarandas drew first blood, but it was nearly all one-way traffic after that, with the Rascals cruising to a 6-2 victory.
Noel Whittling was the standout for the Rascals, smacking in high scores of 101 and 140, with Stuart Crockett the only other player to hit a recordable score, throwing a single ton.
The Jacarandas’ Jose Mason top-scored for the visitors, throwing a high score of 105 and Aaron Ballantyne made his Jacarandas debut with a single ton.
The second B-grade game of the night was also the second game at the Broadford Golf Club, with the Marauders locking horns with the Kilmore Convicts in a one-sided affair, with the Convicts taking home the choccies with an 8-0 win.
The Marauders’ highlights included a 121 for captain Arie Eddy and a ton for Simon Collie.
Eoin Flynn was the only high scorer for the Convicts, he closed the night out with high scores of 100 and 140.
The final game of the night, arguably the most exciting of the round, took place at the Pyalong Rec Reserve. The Tiger-neers and the 26ers competed in a close match, with only a narrow margin separating the teams at the end.
The 26ers got off the mark early to lead 2-1 heading into the singles and looked like they were going to be doing it easy, but the Tiger-neers flicked the switch and started to claw their way back into the match and eventually overtaking the fledgling team, beating the 26ers 6-5.
Mitch Wittig stole the show for the Tiger-neers, smashing in a 180, five pegs and two tons, Jack Stephens is starting to rediscover his best darts, throwing high scores of 105, 121 and 140, and Mark Ruddick slotted a ton and a 125.
For the 26ers, Brian Ward showed he knows his way around the oche, hammering in two tons, a 117, a 121 and a 123, captain Dave McGrath steered in five pegs, two tons, a 115, a 135 and a 140 to close out the highlights for round three.
