From July to October, the Rebellion played seven 60-minute games against the best all abilities side Victoria has to offer.
In their first game at Greensborough Secondary College, despite having only five players against the Victorian Para Football State Team, they came away with a two-goal-to-one victory.
Rebellion then ventured into the northern suburbs to take on the Northern Falcons, where it was outclassed by four goals to two.
It was a tough Saturday afternoon in round 3 against Collingwood.
After conceding three goals early on, they could not get back into the game, ultimately falling six goals to three.
Coming off the bye, they got back on the winners’ sheet against the Frankston Pines reserves side at Lords Reserve in Carnegie, with captain Michael Virgona scoring a goal in rainy conditions to lead his side to a seven-goals-to-three win.
Next up was All Abilities Soccer Academy at KM Reedy Reserve in Hampton.
Down multiple players, the visitors would fall three goals to one.
Fitted out in their new kits, they played the other Frankston team at Fairbairn Park in Ascot Vale.
Like their match against the reserve side, it was another wet and challenging game, with the Rebellion beaten five goals to two.
The season would finish on a high with a 10-goals to-three final-round victory against the Victorian Para Football State Team.
So, with a four-place finish, the Rebellion did not make the finals this year, but captain Virgona said all players loved having the opportunity to play in high-level competition.
“To represent our region with pride makes us so happy,” Virgona said.
The club will celebrate the season with an awards night in December.
