‘Dangerous’: magistrate tells drink-driver

Prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Anna Hanlon said Garner recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.142 when police breath-tested him on July 6.

Garner told police he had eight cans of full-strength beer.

His car was impounded for 30 days.

Representing himself in court, Garner said his offending “wasn’t very smart”.

Magistrate Simon Zebrowski told Garner “it’s not just not smart, it’s dangerous”.

Garner was fined $800 and disqualified from driving for 14 months, backdated to start on the date of the offence.
