With lockdowns and learning from home both hopefully things of the past, some of Seymour College’s aspiring Year 7 students are excited to get to work.
Emily Hooper said she was “excited but nervous” about the prospect of starting high school.
She was looking forward to new subjects like science and cooking, and was excited to look at the textbooks her mother had ordered for her.
Xander Castle is moving to Wallan next year, but said he was excited to meet new people and do different subjects.
“Home-schooling was tricky to get used to, but once I got used to it, it was a bit easier,” he said.
“It wasn’t the easiest to understand, you need to have a teacher explain some things.”
Eliza Carroll-Keays said she was really excited about going in to Year 7.
“It really expands the type of things you’re learning about,” she said.
“I’m excited for all the kind of extra-curricular subjects like, say, woodwork or textiles.
“They're probably going to be really fun.”
She said the biggest change would be moving around every day, but said it would be a better challenge than learning from home.
"At first it was kind of hard to kind of settle into a new routine,“ Eliza said of home-schooling.
“But then once you kind of got the hang of it. It kind of became easier and easier.”
