The town’s Visitor Information Centre recently became a hub of excitement as Benalla Rural City Council brought the Wild Action Zoo, a captivating wildlife experience, to the community as part of its school holiday program.
During the program, 60 enthusiastic children, parents, and carers had the unique opportunity to get up close and personal with a fascinating array of Australian animals.
The interactive session, led by Ranger Liv from Wild Action Zoo, showcased a variety of species, including lizards, an eastern long-necked turtle, a green tree frog, a bush-tailed bettong, the critically endangered mountain pygmy possum, a red-necked wallaby, and even a freshwater crocodile and black-headed python, just to name a few.
Benalla Mayor Danny Claridge said he was delighted at the success of the event.
“It’s fantastic to see the community come together to engage in such an educational and entertaining experience,” Cr Claridge said.
“The Wild Action Zoo’s visit added an exciting dimension to our school holiday program, providing valuable insights into Australia’s unique wildlife.“
Wild Action Zoo is dedicated to inspiring people to develop an interest in and empathy for the wild by delivering responsible, sustainable and educational wildlife encounters.
The one-hour workshop not only entertained but also educated children of all ages about the amazing world of Australian animals.
“Wildlife encounters like these play a crucial role in fostering an appreciation for our native fauna,” Cr Claridge said.
“It is vital for our community, especially the younger generation, to understand the significance of preserving our fragile ecosystems and the impact of human activities on wildlife populations.“
Australia is home to unique and captivating creatures, and the Wild Action Zoo’s visit provided a rare opportunity for Benalla residents to gain a deeper understanding of the important role each species plays in maintaining ecological balance.
