More than 400 exhibitors are raring to go at the event, with thousands of visitors expected to flock to Kings Park to view alternative farming practices, attend workshops and short talk programs and see market stalls, displays and attractions.
There is something for the whole family this year, with a jam-packed schedule of entertainment, animals of all shapes and sizes and a smorgasbord of delicious food and drinks.
Family fun and entertainment
Visitors can mix wood-chopping action with horsemanship demonstrations and whip-cracking competitions, or take the calmer route with kelpie training and the fine craft of woodwork.
Champion axemen from around Australia will demonstrate their astounding skills in the traditional, open standing block and underhand events, and treat the crowd to one of the most popular, newest and noisiest events — chainsaw racing.
Farmer Darryl’s Mobile Animal Farm is a big hit every year and will once again give expo visitors the chance to get up close and personal with a farmyard full of animals and birds. And world-first stunts will be centre stage when the clever canines from Flipping Disc Dogz take to the main oval.
Education
Learn how to run a successful and sustainable on-farm enterprise with a range of short talks and workshops across the weekend.
The talks include information regarding energy, climate change, infrastructure and food sustainability.
The Seymour Agricultural and Pastoral Society will also present a range of talks dedicated to animal husbandry.
Food and drink
The expo is a foodie’s delight.
With demonstrations every day, there’s no escaping the delicious smells wafting from the Country Kitchen. There will be something for parents and kids when Secret Garden chef Adrian Hensley and his daughter Lila take over the stove on Saturday and Sunday, while chef Riccardo Momesso will share his culinary skills with the crowd on Friday.
There will also be plenty of options for a refreshing drink or a tasty meal in one of three food courts.
Eye in the sky: Demonstrations on using drones in agriculture will be run by County Helicopters.
