Hello, I’m Akashdeep Singh, a proud resident of Wallan.
I represent the Victorian Socialists, a party dedicated to social justice, workers’ rights and building a stronger, more empowered community.
Inspired by their legacy, I am running as a council candidate for the Victorian Socialists to restore power to the people.
As a council member, I will prioritise key issues that matter to our community, including reducing the financial burden on residents by advocating for lower rates.
Boosting education by pushing for a new secondary school, additional primary schools, and tackling crucial issues such as bullying prevention and mental health support for our kids.
Enhancing public transport by introducing a direct bus route linking Wallan, Beveridge and Craigieburn, making commutes easier for locals.
Tackling traffic congestion by backing the diamond interchange project to improve traffic flow on the Northern Hwy, cutting down travel times for residents.
Boosting youth engagement by giving a platform to young voices, especially students at Wallan Secondary School, and expanding recreational activities for kids and teenagers.
Building community spirit by growing our local events and celebrations, bringing neighbours together and making Mitchell Shire an even better place to live.
Advocating for workers’ rights by fighting for fair wages, safe working conditions and job security for all workers in our community.
I will work to protect the rights of local workers, including addressing issues of casualisation and underemployment, and support initiatives that ensure fair treatment and equal opportunities in the workplace.
I'm dedicated to open, honest governance and making sure every dollar of council funding is used wisely to benefit all residents of Mitchell Shire.
By standing up for workers, families and young people, I seek to create a community where everyone can thrive.
I ask for your support to be a dedicated and responsive voice for our community.
Together, we can make Mitchell Shire an even better place to live.
