Victorians now have a wealth of options with 171 public sector residential aged care facilities spread across the state, providing a reliable alternative to private services.
State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes emphasised the crucial role these facilities played in caring for vulnerable Victorians with complex needs and limited finances, or those without other housing options.
“I recently joined the Minister for Ageing to officially unveil the $3.17 million upgrade at Barrabill House in Seymour,” she said.
“The upgrade includes 10 new single rooms with ensuites and refurbished kitchen, dining and lounge areas, creating a home-like environment for residents.”
With the expansion, Barrabill House can now accommodate 40 residents, allowing more senior citizens in the Goulburn Valley to access high-quality care within their local community.
“Right across northern Victoria, the Labor Government is investing in aged care services with a strong focus on promoting resident independence, choice and dignity,” Ms Symes said.
“These services are designed to help elderly Victorians get the care they need, closer to family and support networks.”
Since 2014, nearly $632 million has been invested in infrastructure improvements and specialist equipment for public-sector aged care services in Victoria, including more than $443 million in rural and regional Victoria.
