Preparations for the installation of outdoor fitness equipment designed for seniors at Chittick Park in Seymour have begun.
The National Ageing Research Institute helped design the equipment pods, which will include equipment that will let seniors do a range of exercises, with information signs on how to use them.
The upgrade will include additional seating, paths and trees for more shade.
Community consultation will also soon begin for an upgrade of the children's playspace at Chittick Park.
Council wants more engaging and inclusive play equipment and plans to make changes to improve safety and surveillance.
Play options like climbing, informal ball play, sensory and nature play and quiet areas and picnic facilities are set to be included.
Council has proposed the playgrounds of Graham Reserve, Heywood Hill Reserve and Generation Park, all in Seymour, also be replaced with contemporary play equipment, along with a refresh of the wider park area.
Mitchell Shire Mayor Bill Chisholm said he hoped to hear as many community members’ thoughts on the projects as possible.
“These important projects will provide fitness and recreation opportunities for people currently living in Seymour and those that will call it home in the future,” he said.
Drop-in sessions will be held for the three projects for residents to discuss the plans. To find out about the sessions or have your say about the projects, visit www.engagingmitchellshire.com
