The releases began in late September and are between 0.2ML and 4ML a day depending on each waterway.

GVW’s wastewater and recycling co-ordinator Stuart Harris said discharging excess fully treated wastewater from storages helped reduce any potential for uncontrolled overflows and helped protect infrastructure.

“Releases will continue until climatic conditions improve and irrigation can begin at the facilities,” he said.
