Similar to a book library, the Echuca Moama Toy Library allows community members to borrow and return quality toys without creating unnecessary waste.
President Tammie Wakefield said the library was as an enjoyable way to promote sustainability.
“It’s a way to try before you buy and it means that you’re not buying and chucking out toys all the time,” she said.
“There are a lot of benefits. It’s a good way to get to know other community members and other families, especially if someone is new to the area and is trying to connect with others.
“The toys are just a bonus.”
The Echuca Moama Toy Library has been open for more than 30 years, but often holds open days to showcase what it is and what it has on offer.
Party packs filled with toys, games and other celebratory items will be available on the day. They will be free to members and available to non-members with a cost.
The open day is free to all and will include face painting as well as light food and drinks.
The Echuca Neighbourhood House will be supplying coffee and popcorn.
Toys on offer are suitable for kids aged 12 and under.
Come along to the open day at 34-36 Heygarth St, Echuca from 11am to 1pm Saturday, October 15.
