Strathmerton reserves take on Katamatite

Unusual circumstances may have led to the Strathmerton senior squad's defeat, but it was a different story when the Bulldogs reserves took on Katamatite.

Playing at home naturally adds pressure, and Strathmerton felt it early, going into the quarter-time break two points down, 12-10.

But in the second quarter, the Bulldogs surged ahead, outscoring the Tigers to lead them 41-14 into half-time.

Katamatite fought back for periods in the third quarter, but the Bulldogs remained dominant.

In the final quarter, the Tigers were gallant, but Strathmerton sealed the game had by then sealed the game, with the final score 47-90.

Bulldog Timothy Cantrill was the game’s top goal-kicker, with an impressive nine goals under his belt, while Katamatite’s best was Jared Tenney with three.

Strathmerton's top players were Cantrill, Clayton Beer, Josh Beer, Zeke Bunge and Trent Craven.

Katamatite's standout players were Jake Smith, Patrick Tansey, Fred Maclean, Alistair Elgin, Tenney and Lachlan Brennan.

The Strathmerton reserves team currently sits second on the ladder while their opponents Katamatite sit ninth.

Round 11 will see the Bulldogs take on Waiaa while the Tigers have a bye.
