Parents and carers of children with disability or developmental delay in the Shepparton region have been invited to join a new support group.
After receiving several expressions of interest, Intereach, the NDIS partner in the community, created the Care and Share Support Group, aiming to foster connection, encouragement and support among like-minded people.
Intereach Early Childhood co-ordinator Codie Edmunds said all parents and carers of children with a disability or developmental concerns were welcome to attend.
“We want to help families in our community feel supported and less isolated by creating a safe space where they can connect, share their journey and find understanding among other families,” she said.
“They will be able to organise games, activities and outings that promote mindfulness and joy, while gaining insights from different guest speakers.
“We are looking forward to meeting parents and carers at our first get-together and hope, with the support of Intereach, they will feel empowered to continue facilitating the group.”
The inaugural meeting will be held at 10am on Tuesday, January 14 at the Fryers St Food Store, 53 Fryers St, Shepparton.
