Committee member Julie Blyth said the group was celebrating its 20th anniversary.
It is also the first production since last year’s floods, so Ms Blyth said it was a great musical to celebrate the performers getting back on their feet.
“We lost a good part of all our costumes and sets,” she said.
“We did some fundraising and managed to get back on track again.”
Legally Blonde: The Musical features Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrols at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend.
“Nobody believed she had a brain because she’s blonde and beautiful,” Ms Blyth said.
“But she’s actually incredibly smart and a really lovely, caring person.”
According to Ms Blyth, Legally Blonde: The Musical was chosen for this year’s production because of its broad range of characters.
“It gives lots of people opportunities,” she said.
“It’s just fun and joyful musical, and after the last few years of pretty tough times ... (it’s) really uplifting.”
The production has at least 30 of the workshop’s past members and some fresh faces.
“College students that are now finished school, and other schools around the region and moved out of the area, but they’ve come back to do this show,” Ms Blyth said.
“We’ve got quite a few fresh faces, as well, which is great.”
The show will run on November 11, 12, 18 and 19 at Seymour College Arts Centre.
Ms Blyth encouraged everyone to see the show and support the workshop.
“It’s really great for all ages, so it’s a really family-friendly show as well,” she said.
