Seymour fire brigade seeks junior volunteers

The Seymour Fire Brigade is recruiting young members aged 11 to 15 to be a part of the Junior Volunteer Development Program.

The program runs in over 160 brigades across Victoria, with the aim of introducing young people to the CFA by providing them with the opportunity to become fire safe citizens.

Junior members will learn firefighting, teamwork and leadership skills through the program.

They will also be granted the opportunity to compete in firefighter competitions against brigades from across the state.

Once junior members turn 16, they will be able to transition into the senior brigade and become a responding volunteer firefighter.

Activities in the program are conducted at the Seymour Fire Station, and excursions, camps, and championship activities in other locations may also be involved.

Each junior brigade is delivered by a team of junior leaders, who are members of the brigade that are 18 years and older, and have taken on the responsibility of leading the juniors.

All junior leaders hold a valid Working with Children Check and all junior brigade activities have a minimum of two registered junior leaders facilitating activities.

The junior members will meet on Wednesday nights from 5:30pm to 7pm.
