The project includes a new middle and senior school learning hub with specialist classrooms, as well as a new canteen and food technology space.
Seymour College executive principal Gail Hardman said the redevelopment gave all students the best opportunity for learning.
“The learning hub is the centre of what we’ve been waiting for. It allows for collaboration for both students and teacher,” Ms Hardman said.
“It’s difficult for our teachers to work as a team when they have four walls and can’t see the class next to them
“The learning hub means we can support new teachers and provide best teaching practice that all students deserve.
“There is a state-of-the-art food technology space that allows students to get ready for the workforce and our canteen has been improved from the previous temporary location.”
Ms Symes said local families could now enjoy great new facilities at Seymour College.
“We’re ensuring local students have the best facilities, our classrooms have the best teachers and every child is given every chance to succeed,” she said.
“It’s fantastic listening to the important difference this development has made. It’s all about sending a positive message to children that we care about them and their education.
“The facilities at Seymour College when I was first elected were pretty bad and it is awful to be educating young people in buildings where they don’t feel valued and respected.
“Students now get to collaborate and respond to modern education needs.”
