Seymour College holds Anzac Day assembly

A catafalque party from Puckapunyal Army Base formed an armed guard around the cenotaph as a symbolic form of respect for those who had fallen.

Thomas Clayton conducted an Acknowledgement of Country followed by a speech on Gallipoli from school defence captains.

A poem was recited, wreaths last, The Last Post was played and a minute of silence was observed.

The assembly was also an opportunity for new principal Debbie Oliver to introduce herself to the students.

She was previously principal at Numurkah Primary and before that assistant principal at Shepparton High School.

She said she was thrilled to be back in Seymour, after attending school in the town herself.

“It was great to have my first Anzac (Day) ceremony at the school, it is very exciting times ahead,” Ms Oliver said.
