This year, the Art Beyond the Divide exhibition has received more than 270 submissions that will be up for different category prizes, according to society president Terri MacDonald.
“It was more than what we had last year, so that’s exciting,” she said.
“We have all sorts of categories from digital art through traditional oil.”

This year’s competition doesn’t have a specific theme but will have categories that suit a wide range of art styles.
“What we do is we encourage people to enter as many categories as they like,” Ms MacDonald said.
More than $5000 worth of prize money is on offer, but prizes are for more than just the competitors because there will also be a raffle.
Last year’s winner Julian Bruere, who will be judging the competition with his wife Mary, donated one of his artworks worth $2500 to be raffled for the event.
“He and Mary are very well respected Melbourne-based professional artists,” Ms MacDonald said.
“We’re very lucky to have their support.”
Attendees will also be able to let their voices be heard on what they think is the best artwork.
All artwork at the exhibition will be available to purchase.
“There’s literally something for everyone,” Ms MacDonald said.
“The wonderful part about it is that all works on display are for sale.
“With Christmas coming, we think it’s a really good idea for people to sort of think if they’ve got someone who’s really hard to buy for.”
She said an original piece of artwork could be right up their alley.
Art Beyond Divide has been running for nine years, and the society is excited for next year’s 10th anniversary.
Ms Macdonald said the society’s primary goal is to engage the community artistically.
“We definitely like to engage with the community, especially younger artists and encourage them to continue drawing and painting,” she said.
Art Beyond the Divide will run from Friday, November 24, until Sunday, November 26, at Wine X Sam at 69 Anzac Ave, Seymour.
