“It’s good to be able to get back into the community and get involved and make some donations to some worthy causes around town,” club president David Hardiment said.
The Rotarians are calling it a “breakout” dinner because they’ve been “bottled up” for the past two years, Mr Hardiment said.
“It’s been very difficult to provide support to the community, but a lot of our members contributed during the severe lockdowns that we had in Shepparton, helping out with GV cares and FoodShare,” he said.
“But actually organising events has been virtually impossible ... we’re back into it with a vengeance.
“We're hoping to raise something of the order of $10,000, but we’ll just have to see how we go.”
The Rotarians have already sold 192 tickets and are near capacity, with support from other Rotary Clubs in the district, inviting friends and family to the event.
Stand-up comedian Des Dowling will take on the emcee role and local outfit Fortessima will provide live musical entertainment.
Fortessima is a vocal quartet featuring the powerful voices of Emma Jane, Sophie Fimmel, Kirsty Berry and Jamie Lea.
There will be a live auction on the night themed around wining, dining and accommodation packages, Mr Hardiment said.
A few weeks ago, the Shepparton Central Rotary Club held its first major function since the pandemic began, a charity golf day that raised around $30,000 for the community.
