Nonetheless, getting used to school routines makes for an exhausting first few days for little learners.
Students at Avenel Primry school were well prepared after completing four transition sessions in term four last year, they had their first day for 2023 on Tuesday, January 31.
The two APS Prep classes this year will be led by teachers Nicky Greenaway, Danielle Pearce and Melanie Kecskes.
Students’ introduction to school life began with getting to know you activities and an introduction to school values: be a mate, be a learner and give something back.
Mrs Greenaway said she was excited to see the new wave of Preps thrive and grow throughout the year.
“It is great to see both siblings from current APS families and new families starting their primary school journey with us,” Mrs Greenaway said.
“We welcome all our school community back for a new year, especially our Preps, and look forward to another year full of exciting learning and extra-curricular experiences.”
Nagambie Primary School prep teacher Ms Kylie Elson also said that her students had had an exceedingly positive start to the year.
“We have been impressed with how our preps have made such a smooth start to school and are willing to attempt the many new things that come with the big step into prep,” Ms Elson said.
“Along with our classroom learning, we have also enjoyed Music, PE, Creative Arts, Buddies and Indonesian.
“We have even had our first excursion on a bus to the swimming pool for our swimming sports and family gathering on Monday.”
