The multi-award-winning device known as the Poolpod provides safe all-abilities pool access.
Campaspe Shire Council director of communities Jo Bradshaw said the Poolpod was a superb addition to the facility and a game changer for individuals who had previously faced barriers to accessing the pool.
“This innovative addition aims to enhance accessibility and inclusivity, enabling residents of varied abilities to enjoy the full benefits of our indoor heated pool,” Ms Bradshaw said.
“We have trained our aquatics staff to ensure they are well-versed in operating and supporting the Poolpod’s use.”
The Poolpod has been installed to provide access to swimming experiences for wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility.
Pool users will be able to choose to use the Poolpod with its supplementary submersible wheelchair, or alternatively remain standing while they are safely lowered into the water.
“The Poolpod installation aligns perfectly with council’s ongoing efforts to make council facilities more accessible,” Ms Bradshaw said.
“We are proud to be at the forefront of initiatives that prioritise the needs and rights of all residents and visitors, regardless of their abilities.”
