The property’s gate cannot be opened from the outside; therefore, it is believed offender/s have possibly jumped over and opened the gate.
There seemed to be nothing stolen.
Chainsaw theft
On March 15 between 1pm and 1:30pm, unknown offender/s allegedly attended a property at Allen St, Kilmore and stole a Stihl Ms201 chainsaw valued at $2000.
Vehicle fire extinguished
On March 14 on the Hume Fwy, Broadford a vehicle had caught fire after it appeared to overheat.
Thank you to the CFA for successfully extinguishing the fire — no-one was injured.
Fuel stolen
Between 11pm on March 10 and 10:30am on March 13, unknown offender/s have attended a business on East St, Kilmore.
They damaged a diesel tank carrying fuel and proceeded to steal about 400-600 litres of fuel.
Greens damaged
Between 4:30pm March 12 and 9:30am March 13, unknown offender/s have attended a golf course on Cemetery Lane, Nagambie and damaged three greens and six owl bed birds that were on the course.
Police crack down on speeders
Police have been receiving multiple reports from locals about vehicles speeding past schools on Newbridge Boulevard, Wallara Waters during school drop off and pick up.
On March 16 between 8am and 9am, Wallan police set up a laser along Newbridge Boulevard to assess drivers going past.
Police stopped and spoke to about 25 vehicles (cars and trucks) regarding their speed.
The number of drivers stopped is becoming concerning, but what surprised the officers more was the majority of the speeding drivers had young children in the back of their vehicles.
Police are urging drivers to slow down and obey speed limits and school zones.
Dangerous drivers
On the March 11, Seymour Highway Patrol set up a RBT site on Anzac Ave, Seymour when they heard an engine revving.
Police observed a large amount of smoke under the railway bridge, followed by a blue Ford ute.
The 55-year-old male driver and his 85-year-old mother were intercepted, and the driver was interviewed for loosing traction.
The vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $906. The driver will be summonsed to appear before the Seymour Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
Shortly after, a 52-year-old female driver was found to be driving while in excess of the prescribed concentration of alcohol, she had her licence immediately suspended and will also face the Seymour Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
Wallan drowning
On March 19 emergency services were called to a William St address in Wallan following reports of a child being pulled from a septic pit.
The three-year-old was reported missing by his family, before being found a short time later.
Unfortunately, the young child was not able to be saved.
Items stolen from car
Between 6pm on March 14 and 8:30am March 15, unknown offender/s allegedly broke into a vehicle which was parked on High St, Nagambie.
They have proceeded to steal two pairs of sunglasses and a swimming bag containing goggles and two fuel cards.
