The service, organised by the Corowa RSL Sub Branch, is scheduled to take place at the Corowa Monument with attendees are encouraged to arrive at 10:30am to ensure they have time to gather and participate in the ceremony. An address will be made by Corowa High School’s Ella Webb.
Remembrance Day is observed on November 11 each year to mark the armistice signed in 1918, ending World War I. It is a day of reflection, a moment to honour those who have served in the armed forces and to remember those who never returned home. The red poppy has become the symbol of Remembrance Day, serving as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made during times of conflict.
The Corowa RSL Sub Branch’s service will include the a minute silence at 11am and an opportunity to lay a wreath.
President Lesley Rinehart expressed her gratitude for the community’s support and encouraged all residents to attend the service.
“Remembrance Day is a time for us to come together and show our appreciation for the incredible sacrifices made by our veterans and those who continue to serve our nation,” she said,
“I extend a warm invitation to the entire community to join us for this important occasion.”
