Ray White Rochester principal Stuart Wilson said the aim was to spread some Christmas cheer.
“This is the first year we are running this Christmas event after what has happened in Rochester over the past few years,” Mr Wilson said.
“Ray White decided to partner with Rochester Community House to spread a bit of love and positivity in the town.”
While many people are doing it tough, it is time to think of the many people who are facing severe challenges, like homelessness.
“Of course, it’s not the value of the present, it’s the gesture that counts. I think we will aim for 100 presents for the first time,” Mr Wilson said.
“We’ll see what happens over the next three weeks.”
While Christmas is a time for families to be together, some people might be alone for the holidays, and a kind gesture of a present will be greatly appreciated.
“If we can be a small part of helping some children, a family or a person living by themselves feel a little better on Christmas morning, then that’s our aim to spread the joy of Christmas,” Mr Wilson said.
Mr Wilson is looking towards a beautiful festive season, supporting the less fortunate and spreading Christmas cheer.
“An event like this is a bit like a telethon. We are always looking for more presents. But for the first time, we will see how we go and take it from there,” Mr Wilson said.
“I certainly will consider running this event annually. Only on the first day, we have already had a few presents dropped off and we only started Wednesday morning.”
Rochester Community House team leader Amanda Logie has had tremendous success running the Big Garage Sale and is sure the giving tree will be another hit with the residents.
“Stuart came to us from Ray White and said he would like to support us regarding the community Christmas tree this year,” Mrs Logie said.
“RCH was more than happy to partner with them to bring this wonderful gift to the Rochester community.”
While Christmas is upon us, Mrs Logie looks forward to next year when all the residents will return to their homes.
