Seymour Health is following the guidance of the Commonwealth Department of Health and the Department of Health and Human Services Victoria (DHHS) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Seymour Health has put in place a pandemic plan which provides direction to assist with the implementation of measures to minimise disease transmission to help protect the community.
Community members are encouraged to only attend appointments at Seymour Health when necessary, to assist with social distancing.
Visitors to Seymour Health are requested to note all temporary signage instructions upon entry.
Chief executive Chris McDonnell was confident Seymour Health was responding in a timely and appropriate manner to the outbreak.
“During this time information and advice is changing constantly and health services — along with others — are under a lot of pressure,” he said.
“We are working to the best of our ability to provide our community with the highest level of care and access to up-to-date information.
“In turn, we appreciate your assistance and understanding and will continue to keep you informed.”
Changes to the local health service that community members will notice include:
Acute/Urgent Care:
● Amended visiting hours, from 4 pm to 8 pm every day;
● One visitor per patient at any one time;
● No children under 16 years of age;
● Screening and sign-in register on entry for visitors and contractors;
● Dedicated assessment room for suspected cases;
Barrabill House (Residential Aged Care Facility):
● Amended visiting hours from 10 am to 2 pm every day;
● Visits should be limited to two people per resident at one time each day;
● Visiting should be restricted to residents’ rooms or outside; not in indoor shared spaces;
● No children under 16 years of age;
● Large group gatherings, including social activities and entertainment, will be suspended until further notice; and
● Anyone entering the facility will have their temperature taken.
