Sam Spinks’ collection of more than 1600 items is opening to the public at Mooroopna’s M.G. O’Brien Hall — but only for one weekend.
“A big thing about my concept is that I'm really trying to create all of the benefits of second-hand shopping and have gorgeous clothing at affordable prices,” she said.
“But you still get the experience of buying new, like if you were to go to any sort of brand new store.
“I know there’s a lot of customers who enjoy that in-person experience.”
More than a year ago, Ms Spinks was faced with a common dilemma — she had all the love for all the clothes but simply didn’t wear them anymore, or have the space.
And so, GV Wardrobe was born.
The online store was inspired by a clothing exchange model, each item listed is donated and sells for $10 a pop.
And those who donate the items then receive a $2 credit per piece: five items of clothing sent in equals a new item.
Since then, Ms Spinks has been left gobsmacked by the support.
She highlighted the Regional Rummage and said she was impressed by how well second-hand shopping was evolving across the Goulburn Valley.
“I love all the the parts of being an online store and all the opportunities that brings but this is just sort of the next natural thing that we can try and have a go at,” she said.
“It's a very different experience to shopping online, so it's cool to be able to offer both.“
Mooroopna’s M.G. O’Brien Hall will be decked out with all the contents of GV Wardobe, and will have change rooms. Sizes will range from a women’s 4 to 26 and men’s XXS to XXXL.
Cash and card payments will be available.
The shop will open on Saturday, August 13 from noon to 5pm and Sunday, August 14 from 9am to 2pm at M.G. O'Brien Hall, 41 McLennan St, Mooroopna.
