The Patient Administration System is a sign of the digital innovation occurring within healthcare across the Hume region.
Seymour Health chief executive Ward Steet said patients were not impacted by the complex implementation.
“Behind the scenes the lead preparation and planning was exceptional and made what could have been a very challenging change and management process a relatively easy one,” Mr Steet said.
“The transition to the new system occurred as a seamless process.”
The system introduces a region-wide patient identifier to improve the continuity of care, which aligns with Seymour Health and Hume Rural Health Alliance’s vision of better connected patient care.
“HRHA is pleased that we could deliver a connected Patient Administration System for the first time in the region’s history,” Hume Rural Health Alliance chief information officer Neelu Kaur said.
“This is a great achievement, which has been earned through collaboration.”
Hume Rural Health Alliance trained about 2500 staff across a 40,000 square kilometre region to prepare for the introduction of the Patient Administration System.
Alongside Seymour Health, other health services involved include: Albury Wodonga Health, Alexandra District Health, Alpine Health, Beechworth Health Service, Benalla Health, Corryong Health, Goulburn Valley Health, Mansfield District Hospital, NCN Health, Northeast Health Wangaratta, Tallangatta Health Service, Yarrawonga Health and Yea and District Memorial Hospital.
The scope of the Patient Administration System Connect initiative brings together multiple digital health projects to enable heath services in the Hume region to connect to state and national eHealth initiatives.
The new system reflects Seymour Health and Hume Rural Health Alliance’s joint commitment for better integrated patient care across the region.
