NEMA traditionally hosts an annual event in Benalla, but circumstances outside its control mean there won’t be one this year.
However, organisers are asking Benallarites to take the short drive to Wangaratta, where it will host a larger event.
And plans are in place for a return to the Rose City in 2025.
NEMA member and Benalla local Brian Hill said he had recently spoken to Benalla Rural City Council, who were keen to come on board as partners.
“We’re a small organisation, and we had some funding to do Wangaratta this year,” Mr Hill said.
Sadly, that funding won’t stretch to enable a second event in Benalla.
“But with Council on board, we’ll be able to do Benalla next year,” Mr Hill said.
“And we’ve also spoken about trying to do some other things together, which is exciting.”
Harmony Day will take place at Batchelor’s Green, Tone Rd, Wangaratta from 11am - 2pm.
The day will celebrate all the cultures that call Victoria home and will include traditional dances, music and singing, the Wangaratta Pipe Band, a sausage sizzle run by local scouts, giant lawn games, food vans, raffles, jumping castle, children’s entertainment and much more.
