The Nagambie Splash Park opened for all to enjoy on Saturday, February 4.
The $1 million splash park, situated in Buckley Park, includes a variety of fun play equipment which was selected after an engagement process with the community.
Strathbogie Shire Mayor Laura Binks said the splash park provided a fantastic water play space for children, with something for children of all ages to enjoy.
“It was wonderful to have so much input from Nagambie parents and children who will be the major users of the new splash park,” Cr Binks said
“The voting for the equipment for the splash pad design showed that we have a very engaged group of residents both big and small who were delighted to choose the equipment for this new facility, which is now ready for the community to enjoy.”
Cr Binks thanked the community for its patience during recent delays as council worked to ensure the facility operated safely, meeting the community’s expectations.
“After recent floods, getting the necessary risk and safety assessments completed proved to be challenging — insurance assessors were seriously hard to access,” she said.
“Council worked as hard possible to ensure the facility could be opened as soon as possible and we are very excited that the community can now enjoy it.”
The facility is free to use and open to the public from 2pm to 6pm daily until April 30.
Any changes to these hours will be published via the Wacky Splash and Play Nagambie’s social media profiles.
Cr Binks reminded the community there were some conditions of use and rules to remember when using the splash park.
“It is an unsupervised facility so children must be actively supervised by an adult at all times,”she said.
“Be sure to read our conditions of use before using the splash park as there are some important things. We want our community to have fun but to also look after themselves and others while using this shared facility.”
