Mum helps organise deb ball

Special tradition: Debutante balls (or colloquially ‘deb balls’) are usually organised by secondary schools, church groups or service clubs. The girls who take part are in either Year 10, 11 or 12. It is customary for the female to ask a male to the debutante ball, with the partners completing dance classes in the lead up to learn to dance ‘ballroom style’. Photo by John Travers
