Mitchell Shire Council Compost Bin and Worm Farm Subsidy is open until November 30.

Residents can claim up to 50 per cent back on the purchase of any compost bin or worm farm from participating retailers, with subsidies capped at $50 for worm farms and $30 for compost bins.

This subsidy also now offers residents an opportunity to incorporate pet poo worm farms into their home composting routines.

By diverting pet waste to these systems, residents can free up space in their general rubbish bin and reduce the amount of waste being sent to landfill.

Mitchell Shire Mayor Paul Dougall said composting systems helped many residents in the community that did not have a kerbside collection service.

To claim the subsidy, simply purchase your pet poo worm farm, compost bin, or worm farm from one of the retailers listed below, then complete the claim form on the council website within seven days of purchase.

Participating retailers include Kilmore Mitre 10, which is the only supplier of Pet Poo Worm Farm, Bunnings in Seymour and Pretty Sally Mitre 10, Wallan.

The Compost Bin and Worm Farm Subsidy opened on October 1 and runs until November 30, or until funds are exhausted.
