The school captains, along with the entire student body, welcomed mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and other special women to the event, which was filled with fun activities and trivia.
The captains also hosted a trivia competition, pitting a team of mothers against the students.
The competition, titled ‘Are You Smarter Than a BPS Student?’, saw both teams battle it out for the inaugural trophy.
The competition proved to be a fierce one, and very comical, with both teams displaying an impressive amount of knowledge.
The end result was a draw, with both teams sharing the honours.
Principal Dorothy Dore said the morning assembly was an opportunity for the students to express their appreciation and gratitude for the special women in their lives.
“It was a great opportunity to celebrate all the significant women in the Berrigan Public School students' lives,” she said.
“Our school leaders took on the role of MCs of the assembly and did an excellent job.
“A great time was had by all.”
The morning assembly was followed by an open classroom and morning tea of scones, jam and cream. It was a very successful school community event.
