Damian Amuso, who has over 25 years of bricklaying experience, will be competing against 27 teams from across the globe in a one-hour challenge with the objective of laying as many bricks as possible.
Damian will be assisted by his mason tender Scott Law, who has 22 years of experience in the trade.
Damian will be making history as part of the first Australian team to return for a second attempt at the event, with his first attempt being with his wife, Tara, in 2019.
Tara also made history in 2019 as the first woman ever to labour/mason tender in the event.
The husband-and-wife duo achieved a notable sixth place finish; however this year, ‘Team Amuso’ is combining experience and strategy to aim for the first place title.
The ‘Bricklaying Olympics’ is the longest-running and largest bricklaying competition in the world, and has been showcasing the best in the trade for over 20 years.
Whichever team lays the most bricks within the allocated hour of the challenge will win a large American 4x4 truck, typically valued at $100,000, as well as additional cash prizes.
The event is held during the World of Concrete 2025 expo, which attracts over 60,000 in-person attendees, along with millions of live-stream viewers worldwide.
Damian and Scott, who have worked together for four years, will be cheered on by their children and wives.
A win for Team Amuso would grant both team members life-changing prizes, as well as showcase Australian talent on a global stage.
Damian hopes the win could help bring the competition format to Australia, which would potentially encourage more young people to enter the bricklaying trade.
