You’ll find out by attending the Mitchell Shire Concert Band performance at the Seymour College Arts Centre on October 8.
The music is chosen by the conductor with two things in mind.
Music is selected for audience engagement with various styles and textures. An enormous repertoire is available for community concert bands, and the Mitchell Shire Concert Band looks forward to presenting the first post-pandemic performance at the Seymour College Arts Centre.
Alongside music from stage and screen, there will be various folk music selections from Transylvania, the United States, Ireland and Ukraine.
The music is also chosen to involve some challenges for the band members beyond what they are often called upon to perform at community events.
The concerts allow the learner group members to become involved in performing within the larger band. Several of these musicians will appear in a major concert for the first time.
Mitchell Shire Concert Band operates out of the band hall at the Chittick Park entrance in Pollard St, Seymour.
Proceeds from the band’s annual concert will assist in servicing the band’s instruments in preparation for the next learners program.
In the band
Woodwind (flute, clarinet, saxophone).
Brass (trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, euphonium, tuba).
