Usually the night is well attended by upwards of 80 Rotarians and guests, including those from other clubs, the current and past District Governors and dignitaries from the local community.
This year, however, the COVID-19 restrictions caused limitations to the ceremony which was carried out at a face to face Rotary board meeting on July 8 and attended by 10 members, with others joining online.
Outgoing president John Keeffe OAM thanked club members for their support and acknowledged their contribution to both community and fundraising work.
National and local community groups were the beneficiaries of monies raised which included Goulburn Options, Seymour’s Karingal Aged Care facility, the Seymour Youth and Fitness centre, both St Mary’s and Seymour Colleges, the Salvation Army Food Program, Angel Flight and bushfire relief programs.
Assistant governor Elizabeth McCormack officiated the induction of 2020/2021 Rotary president Jane Challis, who introduced her board members and said she was looking forward to the challenges of her new role.
A Paul Harris Fellow was bestowed upon Rotarian Ralph Baker in recognition of his significant contribution to the club.
The theme for the new Rotary year is ‘Rotary Opens Opportunities’.
