Their Scout leaders believe the next adventure is even bigger.
The Kyabram Scout group held its Annual Awards and Reports Night at the Kyabram Scout Hall on September 13, bringing together Scouts, leaders and community leaders to celebrate the achievements and contributions of its members.
Throughout the night, several youths took the stage to share their personal Scouting journeys, highlighting the skills they had developed and their community involvement.
The Scouts were not the only community leaders present at the celebration, with Campaspe Shire councillors Rob Amos, John Zobec and Adrian Weston in attendance to support and celebrate the achievements of 1st Kyabram Scouts.
At the celebration, Crs Zobec and Weston both congratulated the Scouts on their speeches.
“Hearing the youth speak about their experiences and achievements is truly inspiring,” Cr Zobec said.
“Congratulations to all of the 1st Kyabram Scouts, it was great to be able to participate and hear your reports and achievements tonight,” Cr Weston said.
The evening also featured the presentation of the annual report, detailing the organisation’s activities, financial performance and successes over the past year.
The report highlighted the need for new leaders to come forward and ‘Be a Scout’ to ensure the continued operation and growth of the group.
The current leaders are campaigning for volunteers to put their hand up for leadership roles through social media videos, highlighting the benefits of getting involved.
Kyabram Scout leader Jesse Mitchell said the group had the capacity and the space to welcome more children into the group, but due to a limited number of leaders, they were unable to.
She said that the group currently had a waiting list, but until more leaders stepped forward, that waiting list would only get longer.
“I encourage anyone considering getting involved in the community to consider becoming a Scout leader,” Jesse said.
“It doesn’t matter what your background or experience is, everyone has something to bring to Scouting, but being part of 1st Kyabram Scouts will bring you more than you could have imagined.”
Jesse expressed gratitude for the dedication of Scouts and their leaders.
“I’m so grateful for the dedication and passion of our Scouts and leaders,” she said.
“Tonight’s event is a testament to the impact Scouting has on individuals and the broader community.”
