Residents and business owners are encouraged to participate in a series of engagement activities, including online surveys, written submissions, face-to-face discussions at community pop-up sessions and creative feedback initiatives.
The consultation is designed to ensure council’s direction aligns with the aspirations of the community, informed by the themes of the Community Vision Mitchell 2050.
This includes focusing on vibrant community life, sustainable environments, accessible services and more.
Community feedback will also be considered in developing council’s financial and asset plans.
“This is a vital opportunity for the people of Mitchell Shire to voice their ideas, concerns, and visions for the future,” council chief executive Brett Luxford said.
“We are committed to transparency and inclusivity in all aspects of governance, and your input is crucial as we plan for a resilient and thriving community.
Council is especially keen to understand residents’ priorities and any emerging health and wellbeing concerns that need to be addressed in the upcoming plans.
“Each voice in our community is important, and every feedback counts,” Mr Luxford said.
“These plans will guide our actions for the next four years and beyond, shaping the quality of life and the services we provide.
“We urge everyone to take part and help us tailor our strategies to better meet the needs of all residents.”
Community members can participate by completing an online survey or attending any of the scheduled pop-up sessions across the shire.
People who complete the survey will go in the running to win a hamper of local products valued at $300.
Details of the pop-up sessions, survey links and submission guidelines are available at engagingmitchellshire.com
The consultation period will remain open until 5pm on Sunday, December 1.
Feedback gathered will be instrumental in drafting the new Council Plan and Health and Wellbeing Plan, which will be shared with the community for further input in early 2025 before final adoption.
