That is the message from the Echuca Lions Club to the Echuca-Moama community.
Echuca Lions president Geoff Crossman called into the Riverine Herald office on Friday, January 5, to pass on his thanks to the community for the support and generous donations received recently.
The donations were raised across four days before Christmas.
“I bought a total of $200 worth of lollipops that were handed out to the children in exchange for the money that was donated to the local charity,” Mr Crossman said.
“We visited Illawarra Dve (Echuca) with charity donation buckets, and the children would come out with loose change and receive a lollipop for their generosity.”
Mr Crossman also thanked Charles L King and Co First National in Echuca.
“I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Wayne Norwood of First National, who kindly supported us with signage during the Christmas period,” Mr Crossman said.
Club members were thrilled and a little surprised by the amount raised.
“We raised $2000 over the four-night period (December 21-24),” Mr Crossman said.
“About 1500 people donated the change they had in their pockets.’’
The money will go into the club’s funding account to support worthy causes.
“We haven’t decided yet what the money will go to, but it is wonderful to see that despite the challenging times, many people are prepared to help those less fortunate,” Mr Crossman said.
